Digital Photography and Photoshop Basics
Rob’s workshop is for photographers interested in honing their photographic skills and personal vision. It is an excellent refresher for those who already have one foot in the door but need to know the intricacies of their digital equipment, as well as a great passage for those who are embarking on their exploration of exciting and creative world of photography.
This workshop will give you a solid understanding of how your camera works so that you can explore the creative possibilities of digital photography and how your camera interacts with most importantly lighting and other camera accessories flashes, computers and printers etc.
Rob’s course is also for photographers with little or no studio and location lighting experience, who wish to improve their understanding of lighting techniques in weddings, portraits and commercial photography.

Instructor:
Rob is a Toronto-based professional photographer who owns and runs two companies, CorrVision Photography, which offers photographic services to the corporate market, and Light Made Visible, which focuses on the consumer public. Rob studied motion picture film lighting techniques at Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto. He holds a Society of Certified Photographic Consultants (C.P.C.) designation by the Photo Marketing Association (PMA). He also has earned accreditation as a member of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC), and he is a Licentiate (LPPO) with the Professional Photographers of Ontario (PPO).
For the past 7 years, Rob has been an instructor with the Henrys School of Imaging. He has put on many seminars for the school, as well as private companies and camera clubs in the city of Toronto. Some of the seminars include: Niagara School of Imaging seminar on photography essentials, No BS Photo Success and Professional Photographers of Ontario (Central Portrait Branch) workshops on color management, and many others. Rob’s students range from complete novices to working professionals in photography business. Over the years, Rob has been involved in many exciting and challenging projects, including recent work with world-renowned The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Rob’s passion for photography, coupled with years of diverse experience and ability to deliver even the most complicated material in an understandable, straight-forward manner - with a friendly smile :-), guarantees that you will really enjoy and learn a lot from the workshop “Photography and Digital Imaging Essentials” he has prepared for you this year!

Prerequisites for Rob’s Class:
- Basic technical background with using your own laptop/desktop computers would be helpful
- Working knowledge of your digital camera and its manual mode would be an asset, but is not required.
Student Equipment (please bring any/all of these items, if you have them):
• Digital SLR camera and lenses, flashes, laptop or desktop computer and/or image storage devices
• Portable Flash/s, Reflector - Optional
• Lenses, compact Flash card(s) – at least 1 gig of storage or more
• Hand held Light meter - Optional
• Tripod,
• Manuals for all of the gear you will be using or have questions about.
• Pencils, notepads.
• Your own laptop or desktop computer, with a version of Photoshop. (A 30 day trial version of Photoshop may be downloaded before you arrive at NSI) Your instructor will help you with the download if need be. Your instructor will contact you by email to let you know if there are any specific software requirements for your course.
