Supercharge and give your images some punch!

Sometimes you have to push the envelope and get creative! This will help keep your inspiration and motivation up, and will make a statement to your clients. Reach above and beyond the norm and ask yourself "how can I create the most outrageous and stunning angle/composition/setting" for whatever photographic theme you’re going after.

An example of this at work is the Trash the Dress session. Popular with certain brides, when I picked up Christine at her house for her trash session, her mother was there, and asked me: "Why would anyone want to do that to their wedding gown."

I replied, jokingly: " oh, your so old school." She chuckled. Christine and I headed out on her trash the dress session. We'd been planning this for several months and conditions were perfect. Warm weather, clouds and a willing model who said anything goes.
We headed towards our city's amphitheatre and grabbed a few shots. Christine's background is gymnastics so she's strong and able to hold awkward positions, like lying uphill on the benches at a fairly strong angle.

We then headed towards the city, the train tracks, and the slag pits and ended the night back at her house for a few quick shots in her neighour's pool. Her dress was a mess, but we got some great images and outrageous backdrops and poses.

The lighting and post processing used was designed to help take the images to whole new level. Off camera flash, combined with the ambient light, and ultra cool, off beat processing techniques that are typically avoided for most portrait situations.
